What Ollama Is: a Local Runtime for Open Models

MIT runtime, one command to pull a model. Data stays local by default. Model licenses are separate.

Read original

A runtime, not a model brand

Ollama answers where the model runs: pull locally, chat in the terminal, OpenAI-compatible API at http://localhost:11434 by default. It is not a ChatGPT competitor.

Two license layers

The tool is MIT; the weights are not. Check ollama.com/library before commercial use.

With Dify / n8n

Ollama as local inference, Dify as the app, n8n as the flow. Validate on 7B–8B. Don't publish port 11434.
